Oral Surgery
Diagnostics and surgical treatment of disease of the mouth and jaws.

What is oral surgery?
Oral surgery is a discipline that encompasses surgical interventions in the mouth and jaw, including tooth extractions, removal of cysts and tumors, insertion of dental implants, and treatment of mucosal disorders.
First consultation
At the first consultation, the surgeon makes a preoperative assessment, where a diagnosis is made and a further plan for the course of treatment is made — i.e. options, possible complications and possible forecasts. This is based on the referral, X-ray/OPG and clinical assessment. As a rule, treatment will be done at the first consultation.
During and after treatment
A surgical operation will always take place under sterile conditions in an operating room furnished with a dental chair. The emphasis is on the fact that the treatment should be painless. Local anesthesia is therefore used in most cases. In some cases, sedative drugs will also be used in conjunction with the operation. If sedative drugs are used, these will be given in a separate room before surgery. Detailed information on sedative drugs will be provided before class where applicable. After the operation is completed, postoperative information and possible guidance will be provided.
In the case of oral surgery, changes will have been made to tissues that will have to heal again, it is important that the wound is allowed to rest during healing and is therefore as peaceful as possible. The healing can be somewhat unpleasant in some cases, so it's okay to be prepared for this. In some cases, the patient has to return to the referring dental clinic to remove stitches.

Collaboration with hospitals
With TKmidt, treatment is not carried out under general anesthesia. We have a collaboration with St.Olavs Hospital where anaesthetic treatment is performed on patients who may need this.
