Competence
Pedodontist Runa Das and dental hygienist Elin Korsmo at TKmidt annually hold a 4-hour teaching program for the health nurse education at NTNU. The theme of the teaching is “Oral Health in Children and Adolescents” with a focus on the role of health nurses in the promotion of dental health.
The instruction includes what the health nurses should look for and how to conveniently perform a mouth examination on children at 6 weeks, 6 months, 1 year and 2 years of age according to the Health Station and School Health Service guidelines. In addition, it is taught about normal anatomy, eruption, the most common oral cavity diseases, such as caries, oral care, tips and tricks for examining babies and children and presenting relevant cases.
The course aims for participants to learn about medical risk patients and their management, what considerations and rules of hand to take and when to refer.
“Resorptions - Etiology, Diagnosis and Clinical Treatment” is a course by endodontist and periodontist Nancy Bletsa and endodontist Ole Iden. The course will review the etiology, classification and clinical management of resorption with the use of various aids including CBCT.
Cases will be presented showing different treatment challenges and ways to solve them. It will be attempted to provide guidelines on what is considered specialist work and what a general dentist can handle themselves.
