About TOO
Facilitated dental care to victims of torture and abuse and people with severe anxiety about dental treatment (odontophobia).
What is the TOO offer?
The TOO offering is an interdisciplinary psychology and dental health offering. Those who meet the criteria will first receive anxiety treatment or other psychological treatment. Then they are offered the necessary dental care according to Good Clinical Practice in Dental Health Care (IS-1589).
Multidisciplinary treatment teams TOO consists of a psychologist, dentist and other dental health professionals. Both the psychological treatment and the dental treatment in Multidisciplinary Treatment Teams TOO are free of charge. The competence centres of the dental service have a central professional role.
When patients are able to receive dental treatment, they are transferred/referred to Dentist Team TOO which can be teams of county municipal employees or privately practicing dentists with whom the county municipality has signed a written agreement.
Dentist teams must be part of a comprehensive, tailored offer to the patients concerned, and have special expertise to look after the patient group.
The offer should be developed into a coherent treatment chain where the dental service ensures that the patient receives the right treatment at the right time.
