What is radiology?

Radiology is the field of study that deals with examination and diagnosis using X-ray. A jaw and facial radiologist diagnoses findings on common “dental X-rays”, jaw x-rays (OPG), 3D X-rays (CT/CBCT) and soft tissue x-rays (MRI).

Radiological examination

It may be necessary to meet at the competence center or hospital to have some advanced X-ray examinations performed. The x-rays are then assessed by the radiologist in the aftermath of the examination. Feedback and description of the radiographs are conveyed to the clinic that has referred you for the X-ray examination. The attending dentist/dental hygienist/doctor will consider further treatment based on the description provided by the radiologist.
